Hello! Here we are moving right into November, which means we’ve pretty much used up 2024! I am always amazed at how quickly a year can evaporate once we enter autumn, which is such a beautiful season here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains that I always want more before the snow flies. I wish all of you a vividly beautiful autumn this year, and I want to be the first to also wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving.
His lesson for us this month is a new teaching entitled, “A Joyful Song of Gratitude”, and I think it will speak quite remarkably to where we are on our collective spiritual journey. He begins with encouraging all of us to keep a gratitude journal this month, but to also begin our annual life review, paying particularly attention to the happiest moments of 2024. These are two little mindfulness exercises that He believes will help us grasp the true importance of gratitude and happiness, as well as how they are mental states that foster enlightenment.
Much of the teaching treats some of the finer, or subtler, aspects of enlightenment that are not often discussed or even mentioned in most spiritual discourses. Master remarks upon the age-old problem of finding adequate language for awakening that we have all surely experienced. He also notes some of the interesting intersections where the ego may veer of course. I think this is truly an important teaching, particularly given our current point in planetary evolution, and Master delivers it in such a tender manner. As usual, the text is peppered with illuminating observations and probing questions.
The last couple of pages bring us full circle to the topic of gratitude, but as always, Master finds ways to make an old topic come alive with new freshness. In closing, Master invites everyone to join in the North American holiday celebration of Thanksgiving, teasing our minds, a bit, with whether to call the state that leads to enlightenment “grateful happiness,” or “happy gratefulness.” Please join me in savoring Master’s precious, precious new teaching!
Sending blessings of profound wonder and giving thanks for each of you,
Kathlyn
