This teaching highlights the important role gratitude plays in realizing enlightenment. Believed to be an appropriate response to receiving a gift, or benefiting from a kind act, gratitude is often only felt in reaction to something else.  et, feeling and expressing gratitude proactively, rather than only reactively, elevates one’s relation to the moment and opens the heart to new and precious graciousness.
