Greetings! As we enter the month of June and find ourselves moving into the warmer months of 2025 — at least, here in the northern hemisphere. I wish everyone a meaningful summer with many opportunities to circumvent the chaos that continues, seemingly all around the world. In His teaching this month, Master says He greets us as Earth’s, “season of budding gives way to the season of flowering.” May it be a season of flowering in our own lives, as well, so that we may redeem the fruits of harvest in our own lives this year.
In observing the events of the world, it seems to me that we are being called to bear witness to a storm of uncertainty, one that seems to be affecting so many levels of experiencing. Indeed, some have suggested that perhaps we have left the realm of normalcy altogether and are headed into some untested realm of global relational complexity. While we are continually confronted with opinions of what all this may mean for our future, the stress of the uncertainty we now are trying to learn to live with in this unpredictable planetary moment is really not enhancing our overall sense of security. Thus, as Master points out, we must learn to rely on our inner strength, our spiritual practice, and our inner purpose and motivation. He says,
'...instead of leaning upon any external convention or attachment as a source of support, go deeper. If you do, you may just discover a source of equanimity that draws you into perfect alignment with both physical and spiritual planes.' (page 1)
Of course, that “source of equanimity” is discovered through meditation practice. Master notes that even though most of us believe meditation is important, perhaps some of us have become discouraged with our own practice or have failed to achieve the spiritual development we thought meditation would ensure. Yet, given the world we face, Master explores just what meditation is, actually, as well as some of the benefits it brings that could be particularly beneficial at this moment in planetary experiencing. Along the way, He offers some sagely advice for avoiding the pitfalls some have encountered and gives instruction on the only form of meditation the Buddha taught.
For me, this teaching is quite beautiful, and I hope all of you will find it so, too. Master’s sound advice and careful guidance for discovering the comfortable, upright posture the Buddha taught is both eloquent and touching. His gentle reminders to “return to the breath” are so insightful for negotiating the world we face in this moment of planetary upheaval. May you find Master’s words not only instructive, but inspirational, as well.
Happy June!
Kathlyn
