Plane-to-Plane Memorandum

May 2001 Lesson

Wondrous Students:

Is it not a blessing to see Spring unfolding before your eyes and senses? Are you allowing it to speak to you in a personal way, or just plowing through your life with no sense of connection to the seasonal change? Know that the time of revitalization and rebirth is greatly important to your sense of renewal. What a wondrous time to know and experience renewal. It is an opportunity to replant your spiritual gardens and watch in wonder as they take hold and bloom.

If you are looking about the Earth plane these days, I am sure you are noticing that there is much to be done. In a time when so many of the "institutions" of your culture (and that of the world) need to be renewed, at the very least, I am sure you can see that the help of every single person is needed. It is easy to recognize that your financial department is undergoing changes that may impact you as a collective whole for the next five to ten years. This matter, of course, depends on how many folks wake up to what is going on and instead of just panicking over their own condition, begin to actively engage in recreating the whole picture. If this sounds like a big assignment, you are right. Just know that a collective going to sleep and hoping the matters will be fixed upon awakening is not the answer.

In like manner, you can readily see evidence that your systems of education, medicine, law, agriculture, go-vernment, and social co-ordination are also in need of some serious restructuring. These institutions touch all of you in one way or another. While you who receive this letter are all in Western countries, you can easily recognize how the problems of your own countries effect literally the entire planet. Some of you living in the western half of the US are dealing with strong allergic reactions to the smog bank of Chinese pollution sweeping across the country. While it may have been generated in China, it is no longer simply a Chinese problem.

Remember when Mad Cow Disease broke out in England? Many around the world thought it was a British problem. Today, however, it is recognized as a global pro-blem. Or, the horrible forced prostitution rings that were thought to be Asian or Russian problems and now known to be operating all over Europe and the US as well. While these are only three examples, simply stated, problems can no longer strictly be said to belong only to one country or another. One society's blunders, or cruelty, are now played out all over the planet Why? Because the task before you is the creation of the "global community."

Surely you recognize that such cannot come about as some sort of social or cultural anomaly. It can only result as the product of genuine co-creative efforts from individuals all over the world. The first step, of course, is the waking up part. While you may feel that your input to the world in general is quite small, you can have a significant effect with regard to the waking up. Many of you have heard me say that the enlightenment process is a contagious happening. As more and more of you commit to your own waking up, the effect of your dedication and efforts, compounded by those of others who are also so dedicated, will begin to have quite a profound effect. If, in your own waking up, you dedicate your efforts to world leaders and the "institutions" mentioned earlier, and if you consecrate your own cutting through illusion a gift for all sentient beings, you will begin to notice profound wave-like emanations of your own work.

An important part is simply learning that if you are living on the planet at this time, and if you are fortunate enough to have secured in this life spiritual teachings and the knowledge of breaking the controlling bonds of illusion, then you have a duty to the Earth. When you are given knowledge, you must responsibly both use that knowledge, and find a way to give back in proportion to what you have received. Now I'm not simply suggesting tithing here. While such is a practice I heartily support, you must determine to take your dedication one step farther. You have heard me teach that praying for/meditating upon the liberation of all sentient beings is a desirable spiritual practice. Your next step is to go even deeper by becoming living proof that liberation is possible. In fact, this is your spiritual duty.

Please join me during May in listening to Arjuna: Teacher for Our Time, a telephone lecture I did with the Portland (OR) group on February 10th of this year. You will note, I believe, that Arjuna's struggles, both psychologically and spiritually, are amazingly current in scope. You will probably also note that his reactions to Lord Krishna's instructions are remarkably recognizable in today's world. You may even notice some of your own brand of resistance or reactivity in his actions. Hopefully, you will glean from his journey important lessons for your own journey. You may come to understand a bit more fully that, while resistance has always played its role in spiritual evolution and conversion, it need not win out- in fact it cannot win in the final analysis. You will hear Lord Krishna's admonition to 'Rise up and do your duty,' perhaps in a new way. And you may just find that 'doing your duty is exactly what you came to accomplish.

Sunday Meditation

(Note. we will continue in the same vein as April's meditation mode. This is another good meditation to read slowly into a tape recorder and play back for yourself when you meditate.)

Continue sitting on Sundays from noon to 12:15 sitting and breathing. As thoughts arise, let them dissolve. Do not engage them. Let yourself become more and more, aware of just you, body and mind, sitting there, breathing. Profoundly encounter your aloneness in this moment. Keep your focus on this stark moment you are alone, simply sitting and breathing. Know well this silent spaciousness.

As a lone observer of Earth in this moment, see before you the situations tyrannizing the planet. Feel Her pain in this moment, as you stand as High Witness to Her ask, "who is this?" In the spaciousness of the moment, ponder Earth's identity.

Now go more deeply into Her experience. See before you Her beloved beings -- suffering. Note also the many plants, animals and humans are sick or are suffering from physical maladies, but have no creative intelligence attending to their needs at the time. As lone observer for Earth, breathe compassion and light to all who suffer thus. See now all those from all levels suffering for lack of a bigger picture into which to play out their own lessons. See those who cannot read or write, see those who cannot communicate their needs to others in an understandable way. Breathe compassion and light to all who have no choice but to repeat the impoverished, limited, even destructive patterns of their forebears. As kind and noble observer, send healing to all systems of education everywhere, that every plant, animal and human may benefit from your healing breath.

Allow your heart to open even wider to the suffering you have seen. Hold it open, now, as you view the suffering of all the beloved animals being systematically slaughtered in the European Community. Breathe light and compassion to them, and hold their sacrifice to have meaning in the course of Earth's recovery at this time. Extend your breath of light and compassion to the farmers of so much precious life.

Bringing yourself to a fully awakened, attentive state, find within your creative process enough understanding and forgiveness to begin the healing so profoundly needed by Earth. Continue to just watch what unfolds before you, and as lone observer, know the importance of your commitment to Earth. See Her suffering. Allow the Heart of Creation to be touched through your loving Heart of Wisdom. Alone, sit and breathe healing to all Her Children.

Now see the banks of cloudy pollution which fills Her skies. Let your consecrated breath go forth in love and compassion, dissolving all polluting particulates in the air above Earth, restoring clean, fresh air to Her atmosphere. Rejoice in this cleansing, and breathe cleansing breath into the oceans, lakes, rivers and streams, restoring them to a pristine condition. Now breathe that same cleansing breath into the soil of Earth. Let your cleansing breath restore loamy soil to its pristine nature, let gravel, sand, clay, and all mineral compositions be cleansed and freed from the misuses of their sacred states.

Abiding in neutrality, view all innocent plants, animals and humans confined against their will for simply being themselves, living their own lives. View with sadness the loss of innocence these precious ones have suffered at the hands of others. Know their sacrifice is great, no matter the kingdom from which they have sprung. Breathe healing light and compassion to them, and remind them that as Earth's observer, you see them and know their plight

Let your attention now fall on Tashi (age 6) and Dolkar (age 5). They live in a Tibetan children's village in upper Dharamsala, with 2000 other Tibetan children who have either been orphaned or sent out of Tibet by their families. Little Dolkar is an extremely shy and sensitive child, who has had some problems adjusting after the stressful events in her life in Tibet. Tashi was orphaned in infancy. Look into their eyes and see both the suffering of, and hope for, the world.
